Photography

The optical impression of real objects on a light-sensitive medium. During the 1830s at least four people working independently succeeded in making photographs. In 1839 Frenchman Louis Daguerre's invention, the Daguerreotype, was made public. It produced a one-of-a-kind picture on metal.
